African Proverb: Don't expect to be offered a chair when you are visiting a place where the chief sits on the floor.
Meaning: Ignore this simple advise and face the consequence. Of course, this proverb is not just about asking for a chair. It's about courtesy and respect! Some manners are taught but others must be learnt through observation . In other words, to learn some courtesy, we may have to watch or listen to people showing them. The reason is because no one will actually tell us anything about that.
